The main access route to the Sanctuary of Saint Miguel of Excelsis, and generally to the interior of the Aralar mountain range, is from the A 15 motorway between Pamplona and San Sebastián. Take the Lekunberri South exit 123 when travelling from Pamplona, or the Lekunberri North exit 126 when travelling from San Sebastián. From the town centre of Lekunberri, turn south onto the NA 7510 road, which leads to the Sanctuary.

The road passes through Baraibar at kilometre 3 and enters the mountain range, running through beautiful beech forests. As it continues to climb, it enters the wooded Realengo Erregenea, or Monte Aralar, an area of extensive pastures at kilometre 11. Car parks have been provided alongside the road near these pastures, allowing visitors to spend time in this area, which offers great attractions in both summer and winter.
The road continues to the Forest House, or Guardetxe, at kilometre 13, a strategic starting point for many mountain hikes and walks in the range. From here, the road turns east and continues uphill, offering views south towards the Sakana, also known as Barranca Burunda. It leaves the Realengo and enters the municipality of Uharte Arakil, passing from woodland to green pastures and reaching the Sanctuary of Aralar grounds at an altitude of 1,355 metres. The 17 kilometres between the motorway and the Sanctuary can be covered in 25 to 30 minutes. It is very important to reduce your speed and always observe traffic sign restrictions.

The Sanctuary of Aralar can also be reached from Uharte Arakil via a concrete track that leaves the town and climbs the southern side of the mountain range, joining the road from Lekunberri less than one kilometre from the Sanctuary. This track is approximately 11 kilometres long and should be travelled with caution, especially during winter.
